Ancient ruins discovered on Mars?

Not a day goes by without another strange discovery on the red planet and here’s another to add to the pile. This one was dug out by Scott Waring, a virtual archaeologist, a job title that makes me chuckle for some reason.

According to Waring, the image depicts the ruins of a building possibly constructed by an intelligent species, and I do agree it’s an interesting find. There does appear to regular wall thicknesses in parts and there is an element of room formations, but overall I feel this could just as likely be a natural formation.

Even so, these discoveries aren’t going away and the sheer amount of evidence does suggest Mars may have been home to intelligent life at some point in it’s history.

The Curiosity Mars Rover has been happily trundling along looking for signs of life on the planet since 2012 and this isn’t the first structures it has found. Perhaps most convincing is the ancient city captured in a grainy, but distinguishable image. The structures display many characteristics as ancient cities here on earth with arches and turrets clearly visible.

The Curiosity Mars Rover was original sent on a 2 year mission, but has since been extended indefinitely, so it will continue to tease us with these mysterious images for some time to come.
