The flashing lights seen by the crew of Apollo 17 has grown to become legendary and sparked many theories about extraterrestrial activity on the moon. Now one astronomer has spotted something in the images brought back that might offer an explanation.
The observations were made by astronauts Eugene Cernan and Jack Schmitt on the 1972 mission to the moon’s surface. As they were preparing to land they witnessed flashing lights and reported these instantly to mission control.
The sightings have confused scientists for decades with many theories put forward including including a small satellite from a previous mission or meteors hitting the moon’s surface. Yet, now Marc D’Antonio, an astronomer, claims to have spotted a UFO in an image which could explain what the astronauts witnessed.
As shown in the video below, the three blue dots above the moon’s surface look extremely out of place and have no obvious explanation. Could this be what the astronauts witnessed and if so, are the blue dots a sign of alien activity or another type of natural phenomenon?
